Recount does not change supervisor District 3 primary results

There were no substantial changes in the recount of the Republican ballots cast for Greene County Supervisor District Three. The work was completed on Friday morning.

Candidate James Hedges submitted a request for a recount following the primary election in which he was unofficially defeated by Dan Benitz by six votes. The recount board consisted of Hedges’ designee of Bill Allen, Benitz’s designee of Roger Olhausen and their mutually agreed upon third individual, Jim Schleisman.

They did a hand recount of the ballots and there was no change in the outcome with Benitz declared as the Republican nominee for the open supervisor seat. The final tally was Benitz with 310 votes, Hedges with 303 and Cassie George with 104. ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
